On the international competition for Podgorica’s Central University Library, Acetra had the exciting opportunity to collaborate with DIETRICH UNTERTRIFALLER on a concept that reimagines the library as a vibrant hub of knowledge, culture, and community.
“The Fabric of Knowledge” blends Montenegrin heritage with modern engineering. At its heart, the Gumno Garden reimagines the traditional communal threshing floor as a circular courtyard for study and gathering.
A hybrid timber-steel-concrete structure, framed by a ceramic-fin façade, ensures durability, sustainability, and architectural expression. From the open ground floor and transparent auditorium to quiet reading rooms and the 24/7 green rooftop, the layout creates seamless connections between city, campus, and nature.
Our approach showcases advanced structural systems, prefabrication, and sustainable materials – where engineering precision meets public-space vision.
